Dental Benefits: A Bridge to Oral Health & Wellness
The more preventive dental care we use now, the less it costs everyone later. Research from Guardian’s 5th Annual Workplace Benefits Study finds that dental benefits at work contribute to overall health and wellness for employees, and savings on future claims costs for employers.
We discovered the following insights about dental benefits utilization:
- 4 in 10 (40%) working Americans skip or delay dental care because of out-of-pocket costs.
- Employer groups with high preventive utilization spent more (+39%) on preventive care over six years, but spent much less (-86%) on major dental services (e.g., fillings, crowns, root canals).
- Employer groups with high preventive utilization had lower (-16%) combined dental claim costs.
